Graphitized Petroleum Coke Has Three Major Effects On Smelting

1. Hot metal carburization technology can add graphite nuclei in the smelting process, in the electric furnace. The addition of silicon carbide in cupola smelting can also increase the length of graphite nuclei in hot metal and reduce the oxidation of hot metal.

2. Carbonization is a measure to avoid or reduce the tendency to shrink. Due to the graphitization and shrinkage of hot metal during solidification, good graphitization will reduce the shrinkage tendency of hot metal.

3. Under the condition of high carbon content, in order to obtain high-strength gray cast iron castings, the smelting process uses scrap steel and carburizing agents to make the hot metal more pure and produce castings with high material properties. Non-polluting clean materials should be used during smelting to prevent leakage or excess scum.
